Orthotics
Prescribed shoe inserts that support alignment and reduce strain.
Orthotics are medical devices worn inside your shoes to support and improve the alignment of your feet and lower limbs. Although they may look similar to insoles, they are prescribed to address your individual foot mechanics. By gently guiding the feet into a more optimal position, orthotics can reduce strain, improve function and help prevent further injury.
At Alexandras Podiatry Care, we provide both prefabricated and custom-made orthotics.
Prefabricated orthotics are ready-made devices that are heat-moulded and adjusted to suit your prescription. They are available in a range of styles and typically last two to three years.
Custom (bespoke) orthotics are individually crafted following a detailed biomechanical assessment, using measurements and either 3D scanning or foam impressions to ensure a precise fit. These are designed to be durable and long-lasting, often with a lifespan of 10 – 20 years.
We also assess, adjust and replace existing orthotics where needed. When worn consistently, they can play an important role in improving comfort, mobility and long-term foot health.
